Project Summary
As part of the FCTec’s paradigm shift from fuel cell T&E to advanced energy RDT&E, CTC will begin testing Capstone’s C60 liquid fuels 60 kW microturbine with biodiesel blends. Capstone, Inc. has loaned the C60 to CTC for testing with biodiesel. Testing is scheduled to begin in November and continue through January of 2007. This will be the first microturbine tested at the FCTec facility; however, testing will not incorporate combined heat and power (CHP) efficiencies, but rather look at power generation and system reliability using biodiesel compared to standard diesel fuel. Testing will be base-lined using standard diesel fuel and then compared to the results of the biodiesel testing. Several ranges of biodiesel will be tested including but not limited to B5, B10, B20, B50, B75, and B100.
